Dr. William Calnon

Dr. Bill Calnon is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He completed advanced training in the General Practice Residency at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester. He has practiced in Chili since 1981 and, along with Dr. Cilano, formed the professional corporation of Calnon & Cilano, DDS, PC in 1989.

Giving back to the profession of dentistry has always been very important to Dr. Calnon. He has been very active in dental organizations since graduation and has served as President of the Monroe County and Seventh District Dental Societies as well as President of the New York State Dental Association. He served on the Council of Dental Practice at the American Dental Association and as Trustee to that Association representing the dentists of New York State. He is also a Past President of the American Dental Association.

Dr. Calnon is involved with the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, previously serving as Interim Director and currently serving as Chair of the Foundation Board of that institution. Although very involved in many aspects of the profession, Dr. Calnon stays current on clinical and technological advances by frequent continuing education courses. He particularly enjoys the breadth of challenges that general practice offers.

Most recently, Dr. Calnon has been named to the Board of Directors of the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Bill is married to Mary Kay, a school neuropsychologist and they have two sons, Chris and Tim.

Dr. Thomas Cilano

Dr. Cilano was born and raised in Rochester, NY. His love of dentistry started at an early age with his involvement in the Dental Explorer’s group in high school and it continues to grow today.

Dr. Cilano graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1981 with a B.S. in Biology. In 1985, he received his D.D.S. from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Choosing to further his education, he completed a General Practice Residency program at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo, NY. This program provided additional training in all areas of dentistry, but was particularly strong in the areas of prosthodontics and pathology. Returning to Rochester in 1986, Dr. Cilano joined Dr. William Calnon as an associate.

In 1989, Dr. Cilano became a partner and Calnon & Cilano, DDS, PC was formed. Over the years, Dr. Cilano has taken a special interest in the areas of restorative, endodontics, prosthetic and implant dentistry. In addition, he encourages other members of the staff to explore and implement new treatment modalities in the area of preventive care and maintenance.

Dr. Cilano has been a member of dental study groups and attended numerous continuing education courses. He is an active member of the Monroe County, Seventh District and The New York State Dental Societies, as well as the American Dental Association. These organizations all provide essential resources to help keep him current on the ever changing face of dentistry.

Dr. Cilano and his wife Betty have three children: Sean, Kevin and Julia. In his free time, Dr. Cilano enjoys gardening, fishing, wood working, racquetball and jazz.

Dr. Christopher Calnon

Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine

Dr. Chris Calnon is a native of Rochester, NY. Following graduation from the Aquinas Institute, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester.

Following completion of his Residency program, Dr. Calnon joined the practice of Calnon & Cilano, DDS, PC.  He has also elected to remain active in education and holds faculty appointments at both the Eastman Institute for Oral Health as well as Monroe Community College.

Dr. Calnon is a past President and current Treasurer of the Monroe County Dental Society and is currently serving as President of the Seventh District Dental Society, which represents eight counties in the finger lakes area. 

Recently, Dr. Calnon obtained advanced training in dental sleep medicine and is now a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
 
Dr. Calnon attends multiple continuing education courses on both local and national levels. His particular areas of interest are technological advances in dentistry and the benefit this provides to patient care.

Dr. Calnon and his wife Jennifer, also a dentist, have two children, Erin and Ryan.


Dr. Scott Koopman

Dr. Scott Koopman was born in Rochester, NY and grew up in Webster. While attending a Rochester Scholars program through University of Rochester, his dentistry dream started. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from University at Buffalo, he went on to get his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

To continue his dental experience, Dr. Koopman completed his General Practice Residency program back where it all started, University of Rochester and Eastman Institute for Oral Health.

Dr. Koopman has a strong interest in extending his dental knowledge to many different areas of dentistry. With this knowledge, he hopes to one day pass it on to the next generation of dentists.

Dr. Koopman continues to play and watch baseball during the summer months and is on a bowling team during the winter. He is also an avid Star Wars fan.
